There’s something incredibly satisfying about starting your day with a bowl of homemade granola. Unlike shop-bought options that can be packed with hidden sugars and preservatives, making your own granola gives you complete control over the ingredients. When making your own is so easy, why not?
In this recipe, I’ve combined wholesome oats, natural sweetness from the honey or maple syrup, and a mix of nutrient dense nuts and seeds to give you a crunchy and satisfying breakfast option that’s high in fibre and healthy fats. Plus, the added vanilla and warming cinnamon to really make this granola pop.
Make sure to really press your granola into the tray and let it cool before breaking apart to give the most perfect chunks.
Benefits of homemade granola:
- Lower in sugar: many shop bought granolas contain more sugar than you’d expect – check the nutrition label next time you get yours! By making your own, you can control the amount of sweetener you’re adding and use natural sugars from honey or maple syrup
- High in fibre and healthy fats: the combination of oats, nuts, and seeds gives a granola rich in fibre, healthy fats, and with a boost of protein – keeping you energised, fuller for longer, and treating your gut at the same time
- Adaptable recipe: this recipe can be easily adapted with different flavours such as adding some orange zest and, after cooking, some dark chocolate chunks to make a chocolate orange grandola, or almond extract and some chopped glace cherries after cooking for a cherry bakewell alternative
This granola is perfect served alongside some greek yoghurt or milk, and your favourite fruit. If preferred, you can drizzle over some extra honey or maple syrup for some extra sweetness. Alternatively, you can also enjoy these granola chunks on the go as a snack!

Makes 4-6 portions – depending how much granola you like in the morning!
Ingredients:

- 200g oats
- 100g mixed nuts/seeds
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 75g nut butter

- 3 tbsp oil of choice
Method:
- Preheat your oven to 190C
- Mix all ingredients together in a bowl
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper and spread your mix on top. Use the back of a wooden spoon to press the mixture down and compress it together – this will help get your chunky clusters

- Once golden, remove from the oven and allow to cool on the tray
- Once cool, break the granola into pieces and store in an airtight container/jar to use whenever
